Title: Splashes of Crimson
Characters: Sam, mention of Dean
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Warnings: Character death.
Spoilers: 3.16 No Rest for the Wicked
Disclaimer: Don't own - just playing in somebody else's sandbox.
Summary: Sam's thoughts moments after Dean's death.

A/N: Written for [info]spn_drabble.  The prompt was Blood.

Dean’s blood.

It was everywhere, his hands, his coat, his shirt, his pants.  Splashes and smears already tacky to the touch, irrevocably staining everything a dark crimson.

He’ll never be able to remove all of it and yet was strangely at ease with that fact.  Anyone who saw him should know the truth, should be privy to his failure.  It would serve as a warning, keep away, not reliable.

He’d lost.  Lost the race against time, lost the solution, and because of it, his brother.

All he had left now was a scattering of bloodstains.

His big brother’s blood.

Dean.

OUCH! Sam's self loathing leaps off the page and is really heart breaking. Great job conveying so much emotion in so few words.

Hey!

Yeah I pretty much owe everybody a great big sorry for hiding under my rock for the last couple months but it's such a nice rock and rl has been...well the least offensive word would be crap so I figured it was best to lay low until my mood improved.

That being said I did read about your grandad and I'm hoping it's all working out now. I think you did the right thing and like everyone else I don't agree with how you thought about yourself.

Anyway I'm glad my drabble came across well. I forgot how hard it is to write so much in so few words.

Thanks.

Wow. Just wow. I can completely see into Sam's head that this is what he would think.

Anyone who saw him should know the truth, should be privy to his failure. It would serve as a warning, keep away, not reliable.

So very nicely done.
